The Writers Guild of America may be on strike, but a casting call has been listed for the pilot episode of “In The Arena,” a reality TV competition that is looking for “attractive, athletic, candidates,” who preferably “have a compelling life story” and a knack for debate.

“This role is to be a candidate for a new reality tv competition show's pilot episode and sizzle reel,” officials said.

Fifteen candidates will be selected as finalists. A handful will also audition and be rejected in the episode.

According to producers of the show, it "challenges American college-age students to debate policy issues in a competitive setting."

Candidates will work in teams to speak on challenges facing the country. The show will focus on one issue per episode, and candidates will face elimination at the end of every episode following live debates.

“No experience is needed. Experience will have literally zero impact on our decision," according to the casting call. "What you must have is the ability to be in Washington, DC at your own expense, so local residents are a big plus.”

Officials say that they are looking for contestants between the ages of 18 and 27 who will be required to submit a headset/photo and cover letter with any submission to audition.

Dr. Tim Kane, the host, and a panel of judges will then be tasked with considering candidates for those interested in auditioning for the pilot episode in early June.

“We have many candidates applying from the debate world, and they are transporting themselves to audition,” showrunners noted. “This casting call is to make sure we have a mix of candidates at the audition who are not typical college debate kids.”

The shoot is scheduled for the weekend of Friday, June 9 or Friday, June 16 in Washington, DC. Meals will be provided, and the total pay is estimated to be $100 for the pilot episode.
